Colorado Springs, Co.-There’s more that stands out about Byron Sully than his attire, unconventional ways, and beautiful hair, including his faithful and constant companion, Wolf. We sat down with Wolf to get the scoop on how he’s handling changes as he adapts to family life and what life with Sully is really like.
Note: We have preserved Wolf’s original language but provide translations in italics below his answers for those who don’t speak fluent Wolf.
Your name is Wolf–any insight into the meaning behind that?
Wolf: boof boof bark
I am a wolf.
We’re all dying to know–what’s it like living in a big house after staying in a lean-to for so long?
Wolf: Boof bark barkbark bark arooo bof boof barkbarkbark.
The most surprising thing is that the fire is under a roof. In the lean-to, the fire was out in the open. You’ll often find me sitting on the porch since I am used to living outdoors, but I love coming inside for table scraps and to sleep by the fire.
Do you ever get lonely being the only dog now that Pup is dead and Fifi was given way?
Wolf: Boof bark barkbark bark arooo bof boof barkbarkbark roo rooooo arooo barkbark bark!
Sometimes I miss having Pup around. Too bad he had to go and get rabies, but it really makes me grateful for my own health and the fact that I haven’t killed anyone important to this family. I absolutely do not miss Fifi, though. That thing was barely even a dog and to be honest, it was embarrassing even having her around the house. People often fear me, but I”m not the one shitting in the house. If my options are either being alone or living with that rat, I’ll take being the lone canine any day!
How do you like living with a family?
Wolf: ARROOOOOO
I like all the extra pets.
You and Sully are often seen walking. How many miles do you and Sully typically log in a day?
Wolf: Bork.
Ten.

You hear a lot about how Sully should have consulted with Dr. Mike before committing federal crimes, but you don’t hear enough about how he should have consulted with me. I’m the one who has been by his side 24/7 for years and I was here long before Dr. Mike. I like her and everything, but why is her opinion more important than mine? It would have been nice to have a little heads up before I would be staying with the family WITHOUT Sully while he lives in the woods. Why can’t I be in the woods too? I like the woods and I’m used to it. I don’t even bark that often, so it’s not like I’d give him away. I just don’t understand, but I hope Dr. Mike comes up with a way to get his charges dropped so I can see him more often again.
