Elliott Reed Bets Carter Family Wishes They Had Taken Him Up On Offer Now That John Blew Up Their House

New York, New York– Recent reports indicate that Elliott Reed, father of Sarah Carter, bets that his daughter’s family regrets not taking him up on his recent offer now that their house has been blown up in advance of the railroad coming to Walnut Grove.

“I want to make it clear that I never approved of John, and I still don’t,” Elliott affirmed. “I’ve never thought one should stand in the way of progress, so I disagree that the railroad coming is such a big deal as that small town made it out to be–if anything, they should have been grateful that the railroad wanted to take over and actually make something of the town. Then for my own son-in-law to advocate blowing the town up–well, that’s just a real hick thing to do.”

Some months ago, Elliott unexpectedly arrived in Walnut Grove to surprise Sarah with the news of her mother’s death, insult their house, and attempt to move the family back to New York with him.

“I know we patched things up at the end there, but that doesn’t change some fundamentals: New York city is just the better place for that family and opportunity for those children to thrive,” Elliott continued. “The family was emphatic that they didn’t want to leave Walnut Grove, but I just never bought that life could be better in such a place. They all acted like my calling their house a shack was an insult, as if I weren’t just speaking the truth. But, no matter–now that shack doesn’t even exist, and here they could have taken me up on the offer of a lifetime.”

When asked for commentary, John Carter dared Elliott to have a problem with him now.

“Listen, I convinced an entire town to blow up their most precious possessions,” John informed us. “If Elliott thinks I’d still be intimidated by anything he wants, he has another think coming–it should be the other way around and he should be intimidated by me.”

At press time, Elliott was wondering if there was an explosives factory in New York where he could use connections to get a job for John and have his way anyway, commenting that if John loved blowing things up so much he might as well at least do it in the city.
