Walnut Grove, Minn.-Recent reports from the small farming community reveal that Charles Ingalls wants everyone to understand that he would have punched Jenny Sherman’s husband anyway.
It seems that recently while Jenny labored with the couple’s first child, Dr. Baker was out of town. Dr. LeDoux, recent addition to Walnut Grove’s professional community, rushed to assist Jenny when it was apparent htat hte labor became dangerous. However, Mr. Sherman refused to allow a black doctor to help his wife. Only with the help of Charles’ fist did Dr. LeDoux get to assist the patient.
However, Charles wants to make sure everyone understands that this does not portray the situation entirely accurately.
“Oh, I would have punched him anyway,” Charles clarifies. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad it was my fist that struck the blow that allowed Dr. LeDoux to do his job, but really, I just felt like punching the guy. I guess it was convenient that it fit right in there, but yeah, would have punched him with no reason.”
When pressed for more details, Charles insists that it is healthy to get in a certain amount of punching and crying to maintain optimum health.
“If you don’t punch people or cry–sometimes even at the same time–your emotions get all bottled up and everything seems worse than it really is,” Charles continues. “It isn’t healthy for a body. I think getting that worked out is good for your marriage, too, because you can really be your best self for that other person”
When asked for commentary, Charles’ wife, Caroline, confirms that when Charles punches people it is “pretty hot.”
At press time, Dr. LeDoux looked forward to quickly being forgotten by everyone who lived in Walnut Grove.
