Winoka, Dakota Territory- Recent reports indicate that newly employed Jonathan Garvey had been unaware that the bar fight in which he recently engaged was actually a job interview.
According to Jonathan, he “just stumbled over into that there saloon to beat up Harlan on account of he beat up Charles. It weren’t until I had finished the job that I realized I had got a job.”
It seems that after Jonathan gave Harlan a sound thrashing, Mr. Standish offered him a job as a bouncer at the saloon, something that Jonathan says was “totally unexpected,” but he does note that it “should make Alice happy.”
“How about that, huh?” Jonathan muses. “I go to defend my friend and come out with a job. Funny how things work, ain’t it?”
When asked if he would have done anything differently if he had known he had a job interview to prepare for, Jonathan comments that he maybe would have put on a better shirt. “But then again,” Jonathan reconsiders, “it’s not like I was in my drawers. And I do need to be comfortable to fight, which is what I expect this job will be.”
When asked about what he looked forward to most in his new position, Jonathan remarks that he is relieved that if something catches on fire, it’s not his problem.
