Walnut Grove, Minn.– After keeping busy following a shocking turn of events, the Garveys have announced that they are ready to grieve again.
Recently deciding to pick up and move to Sleepy Eye, Jonathan and Andrew Garvey have decided that a complete change is in order to cope with the loss of their wife and mother, respectively.
“When Alice died, why I had a lot to keep my mind busy,” Jonathan tells us. “First I had to up and help Charles find Albert. A lot of people might think that was a lot considerin’ I just lost my wife, but Charles is my friend and I had to help him. Then I had to go visit Alice’s mother for her birthday. And well, things they just kept snowballin’ and the next thing you know, things quiet down and that’s when I remembered that I had some grieving to do.”
After several big events in Walnut Grove, including the Founders Day festivities at which Andrew and Albert fought over a girl like no tragedy had just occurred, Nellie Oleson’s marriage to Percival Dalton, and Laura Ingalls’ engagement and subsequent marriage to Almanzo Wilder, things have quieted down enough for the Garveys to resume grieving.
“It’s what is best for Pa,” Andrew reports. “There just isn’t enough going on to keep us here delaying our grief, so I guess we’ll move to the big city. There’s always something there to keep us busy. Maybe we’ll even get something else happening that will give us new griefs.”
At press time, Jonathan wished he had delayed his grief long enough to be around town when the football guy showed up.
