Harper Horse Farm-Recent reports indicate that Samantha and Thomas Harper are shocked that Charles Ingalls just dropped them suddenly.
Charles recently took a trip to the Harper farm to purchase horses for a resident of Walnut Grove. While there, he learned that the Harper family was experiencing problems due that began after the tragic loss of a son in a horseback riding accident.
While Charles had a tremendous impact on the family, including helping Thomas cope with occasional bedwetting with words of encouragement and sharing his own personal history with the issue, the Harper kids are surprised that Charles could be so influential and then just drop them so suddenly.
After years of parental neglect and witnessing their parents’ marriage crumble as their father became falling down drunk almost daily, the Harper children healed in a mere matter of days after having Charles as a houseguest.
“We had great fun,” Samantha “Sam” Harper shares. “He gave us nicknames and played with us. My mom smiled a lot, which she hadn’t done for a long time.”
Despite having such a great time, the Harper children now share that while their parents are getting along again, it saddened them that they never saw Charles again.
“This is almost as hurtful as when our dad didn’t spend any time with us,” Thomas Harper comments. “He became the most important man to our family in just a couple days, and now he’s just gone.”
At press time, the Harper kids were noting that the worst thing was that their parents named their new brother after Charles, forcing them to live with the constant reminder of the man who abandoned them after creating a deep emotional bond.
