Report: Jonathan Garvey Wonders If He Is Landlord Now

Walnut Grove, Minn.-Jonathan Garvey’s recent purchase of the Ingalls property for mere pennies has him wondering if he is now technically a landlord.

After the Ingalls family ran up a high bill of credit following the news that they were set to inherit Charles’ wealthy uncle’s estate only to learn that they would be left with nothing, the townsfolk stepped in to purchase all of the Ingalls belongings for mere pennies. Jonathan Garvey purchased the farm, which initially seemed like a blow to Charles.

“I knew he would take it hard if I just owned his farm,” Jonathan shares with The Prairie Review. “That’s how come I phrased it like I did, just to mess with him a bit–when he gave me that look, I told him that I wasn’t intending to keep the farm and he could pay me back a couple pennies when he was able.”

While on the surface this looks like a benevolent gesture from the entire town towards the bereft Ingalls family, a few days of thinking the matter over has Jonathan wondering if he is actually Charles’ landlord now.

“I own the farm now,” Jonathan muses, “and until Charles pays me the pennies to own it outright again, that would make me his landlord, right?”

At press time, Jonathan was hoping that his list of rules for his property wouldn’t interfere with his friendship with Charles. Meanwhile, Harriet Oleson was experiencing jealousy that she wasn’t anyone’s landlord.
